At the beginning of relationships, there is this constant desire to spend every second together. You want to get to know your partner and everything that he/she has to offer, and every day is brand new with brand new quirks that you fall in love with. But that period ceases.
Relationships change people. The more that you spend time with one other person, the more you lose your individuality. It's not exactly a bad thing, but if it goes too far, you end up forgetting your own life. Eventually, you lose all of your hobbies and simply join in on what your partner likes to do, or vice versa. Being long distance keeps you separated where you remain yourself while still enjoying your partner (when you want to).
In long distance relationships, you can also continue that same passion and desire of seeing him/her that you had in the beginning. Not seeing your partner for days at a time makes the moment when you actually do explosive. You can't get enough of each other and the time is never wasted. When you're together constantly, that time is taken for granted; but when you're separated, you always want to have the best times.
And of course, sex lives of long distant couples are awesome 99% of the time. That intense passion builds up and when there is finally physical contact, again, it's explosive! Just as kissing provides perfect foreplay, not seeing your partner every day makes you want him/her even more. However, having a fabulous sex life only on the weekends can be a bit of a disappointing tease rather than an arousing one, but wouldn't you rather have amazing sex once in awhile than unsatisfying sex regularly?
Long distance relationships can make a relationship stronger and last longer. You are allowed two lives: your own life and your life with your partner. When you see him/her constantly, the separation of the two lives is difficult to maintain, but when you remain distant the boundaries can be kept up. The time spent together will always be wonderful because it's so limited, and if it's not, that's an easy way to tell if things aren't working. Of course, there are hard times with the great when you're in a long-distance relationship, but overall it can create and keep up a passionate, strong and enjoyable connection between you and your partner.
